Bioderma: Hydrabio Légère| Review

I am the biggest fan of Bioderma Sensibio H2O, it has changed my perspective towards wearing makeup and more importantly removing makeup. So with that for background, I was over the moon when I won a Bioderma USA’s (very generous) Instagram Giveaway. In that I recieved two bottles of the treatment moisturisers from the Hydrabio range, the Hydrabio Légère (Normal to combination dehydrated sensitive skin) & Hydrabio Riche for (Dry and very dry dehydrated sensitive skin) and Hydrabio H2O miceller solution. I have been using the Hydrabio Légère since and I am impressed.

Product Claims: Every day, pollution, stress, cold weather, etc. disrupt the skin’s cellular activity. As a result, it becomes dehydrated, tight and uncomfortable and loses its radiance. Developed in the BIODERMA Research laboratories, the Aquagenium biological patent found in Hydrabio Légère retrains the skin to activate its natural moisturising capacities by stimulating the production of aquaporins, water channels in the skin, and retain the water it needs to be balanced.

  • Lastingly moisturises
  • Skin comfort restored upon application
  • Restores the skin’s suppleness, softness and radiance
  • With its light, fresh texture, it is an excellent make-up base.
  • Allergen-free fragrance, Non-comedogenic & Hypoallergenic

French brand Bioderma’s Hydrabio range is based on the basic fact that we are all aware of: Our skin needs water. Research tells me it is based on Nobel-prize-winning research on Aquaporins. Aquaporins are channels that move water around cells. The theory is that everyone’s skin needs water, and that water needs to stay in our skin.

Hydrabio does it with ingredients such as vitamin B3, apple seed and seaweed extracts that are claimed to be good at rebuilding aquaporins, and glycerine, which is said to prevent evaporation from the surface of skin (kind of like silicones). So as a result the skin is said to become better able to absorb, retain and circulate water, so it is more hydrated on the surface and within.

The product comes in a airless pump packaging which is very hygenic and dispenses the right amount of product in one go. The moisturiser is incredibly light in texture yet not runny at all. It gets quickly absorbed into the screen and is extremely soothing post application. Inspite of being so light the moisturization is incredible!

I used it during the winters and post application I was good for the day without feeling the need for reapplication. It has a gentle calming fragrance which is a big plus point for me. Something about the formula makes the skin feel very fresh and cool. It is at par with the Clinique’s Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel as far as performance is concerned. It also smoothens the skin so makeup goes on evenly on it. I am really liking it so far and am willing to ditch the Clinique for this one!

I dont have very sensitive skin but I think this is going to work great on folks with a more sever case of sensitive/ acne prone skin. This product will also work well in hot and humid weather because it provides hydration without the greasiness.

Pros:

  • Light Weight
  • Gentle Fragrance
  • Non-comedogenic & Hypoallergenic
  • Highly effective
  • Niacinamide & plant-based antioxidants provide some anti-aging benefits.

Cons

  • Expensive
  • Contains silicones
  • Not Availaible in India Easily
  • Not Cruelty Free

Closing Thought:

Results after short term use are incredible, I cant say about claim about “Training the skin to moisturise” itself. I guess for that one would have to consistantly use this treatment for a larger span of time. Nevertheless I am highly impressed, I will definitely repurchase. Meanwhile I hope Bioderma India brings this range here and prices it right. I highly recommend you check this product out. Let me know what is your opion of this product and the brand in the comments section.
