Review| Organix: Quenching Sea Mineral Moisture Shampoo

Do you folks know that feeling when you like something so you keep going back for more… something similar is happening to me in case of hair products from Organix. I recently used up the Argan Oil Shampoo which I loved; so no surprise I went back for more! Its the winters and girl needed help with her dry hair so chose the Quenching Sea Mineral Moisture Variant from the same brand.

Ingredients

It comes packaged in the classic OGX style plastic bottle which they claim to be eco-friendly since it is made of recycled post consumer resin. The shampoo is of a light runny consistency similar to the Moroccon Argan Oil Shampoo from the same brand, that I was using earlier. Due to this one needs to be mindful of not squeezing out too much. I have mid-length hair so I need quite a bit of this. It lathers well, not too much- not too less, just the right amount in my opinion. The shampoo is of similar colour as the bottle and has a fresh tropical fragrance that is surprisingly not very overwhelming and doesn’t last very long. If you are one of those who want the hair to remain fragrant, you will be disappointed! I am OK with the smell mellowing and eventually disappearing so this is not an issue for me.

Packaging- Flip top Cap

The good part about this product and generally other OGX offerings is that they claim to use SLS –free surfactants (learn why this is good – here) and don’t test on animals, so in essence good for your hair & your conscience!

It does a decent job of cleaning the scalp without drying the hair too much. But there was no shine with every swish! (scoff!!) I have an oily scalp and frizzy mid length hair, the ends of which are very dry & split end prone. This shampoo definitely helps control the frizz but doesn’t do a whole-lot for the dryness prevalent towards the ends of the hair strands. Hair is soft, voluminous and quite manageable for the first two days after shampoo. But third day onward the sebum & build up kicks in and starts weighing it down. It does contain silicones so that has a part to play in the softness that is noticed immediately after shampooing and the weighing down of hair after a couple of days.

Pros:

Cons:

  • Contains Silicones
  • Will not be very effective on dry to very dry hair type.
  • Not widely available in stores.

Final Thoughts

Closing Thoughts:

If you are looking for a shampoo that will last for a while and is slightly better than the usual ones that line the shelves at supermarkets; go for it. If you have very dry hair, this wont work so don’t get waylaid by the claims.

  1. Hahah!! Vicious SLS circle. But after this I definitely need to try something other than OGX. Although I do find the price to quantity ratio of this one quite good value for money.

  2. I actually used that shampoo in my last traveling to the USA, they were really good, my aunt loves them and buy them as they are a nut free and its good for her son allergies, great product

Sounds like a great product. Unfortunately for me, I doubt it would match well with my dry hair. I’ve recently started infusing organic peppermint oil into my shampoo for an added kick to my hair washing sessions.

  5. Sounds like it was an interesting product at the very least. I know my hair would be like yours only I don’t let it grow out very far. I would have the frizzy part with the dry ends. Sorry to hear the product didn’t do much for the dryness at the ends.

  6. Never heard of this brand before but it sounds amazing in your review! My hairs are thin and dry and am using Matrix shampoo and conditioner and its working great on my hairs!

  7. Oh wow… I am gonna go look for the gold bottle now 🙂 you got me intrigued.. also I have heard a lot of good things about Aussie… But I don’t see that brand here very often.

  8. I appreciate your review and honest comments on this product. I was thinking it sounded really good and might be worth looking into for myself until you said it would NOT be good for dry hair! My aged skin and hair are dry, so I really need products that ADD moisture.

Honest review indeed! I guess I would like this choice of shampoo too, i just wish the smell won’t make me change my mind lol but I love trying new things.
