Inglot: Lipstick 145 | Swatched

I have always been a fan of Inglot’s brand language and of course great quality of products to go with that “sleek & to the point” brand image. During the time I lived in Bangalore I hoarded a tonne of lipsticks from Inglot because they had many physical stores there and I really do like the old school way of swatching and making a purchase decision based on how I perceive the product in reality rather than seeing it on the computer or phone screen. During this phase I was all about the pinks and one fitting the bill was this beautiful No. 145.

Inglot’s packaging-design is amazing and that is reflected in the lipstick packaging. Sleek Black metallic outer tube and a cap that fits tightly so no chance of accidents. I imagine it’s the kind of lipstick that a female James Bond would use. LOL! The shiny reflective surface does show the finger prints but then those can be cleaned easily. (Ms. James Bond would use this shiny surface to spy on the mafia king pin dining behind her in the fancy restaurant….OK I will stop now!!)

145 is a beautiful warm toned pink that gives the lips a healthy amount of colour without ever looking over the top. It’s a shade that can be worn during the day or can be built up for the night. It will look fab on fair to medium skin and if used with a lip liner even the darker skinned folks could make it work for them.

This lipstick has a creamy satin gloss finish and if you are someone like me who consistently wears matte lipstick you might be a little thrown by the shine. I believe it contains some oil based ingredients which are responsible for the shine and the slip, due to which it is quite smooth to apply.

Although claimed to be moisturizing it really can’t be compared to a lip balm but definitely not drying like liquid matte lipsticks either. Also a point to note is that most often creamy lipsticks are quite soft and prone to breakage but surprisingly this bullet feels quite sturdy and doesn’t melt as easily as some other creamy lipsticks I have tried.

It has good longevity, it remains on the lips for a good 3-4 hours after which it will fade. Saving grace is that it fades evenly so it doesn’t look unflattering. It will not survive an oily meal though! It does smudge so one needs to be mindful of that always.

Inglot: Lipstick 145 | Final Thoughts

Closing Thoughts:

Inglot offers around 80 shades in this range and there is a whole different range for mattes and other finishes so there is definitely a lot of options. The downer is that few are available in India and not quite easily either. I wish they would work towards better distribution.

Also the high price cannot be ignored considering there are many many good quality affordable alternatives available these days. So since I have hoarded many Inglot lipsticks I don’t see myself re-purchasing these but if you are someone who buys just one lipstick a year I would say go for Inglot, for their good quality.

Let me know in the comments about your experience with the brand and your favorite products from their line up. Also if such swatches interest you please check out the Swatch gallery here.
