Product Description:

Royal Indulgence Amaira is an All-Round Hair Growth Solution that is made with 12 organic herbs that are proven to improve hair thickness and aids in overall growth. Unlike most hair growth oils that only address weak hair/hair-root strengthening, Amaira works at multiple levels.

It’s unique formulation helps fight over 16 hair damaging issues like stress, pollution, bad diet, water salinity, scalp dryness, sweat allergies etc.

Amaira has a three-pronged strategy to fight hair fall naturally.

Step 1: Amaira first reduces hair damage and hair breakage caused due to urban lifestyles, digital exposure, UV rays, pollution and lack of a proper diet.

Step 2: It treats the scalp for dryness, allergies & infections that cause hair damage. It will nourish the hair root and the scalp base with direct exposure high quality organic protein-rich ingredients.

Step 3: It aids in improving hair thickness by a minimum of 10-15% by continuously nourishing and maintaining the protein levels in the hair root to give you stronger, longer and thicker hair.

To give you a perspective, most of the popular Minoxidil based hair growth solutions use a potent mix of chemicals in their formulations. Whereas, Amaira is a 100% Ayurvedic, time-tested formulation. Neeli (Indigofera Tinctoria)

It is used to treat premature greying, baldness, split hairs, hair loss, scalp itching and clear your scalp of all infections elements.

Bhringraj (Eclipta Alba)

Bhringraj, known as ‘Kehraj‘ in Assamese and ‘Karisalankanni’ in Tamil, is a medicinal herb that grows in moist areas. The leaf of Bhringraj is good for the hair nourishment. It is regarded as the ‘rasayana’ – an ingredient that rejuvenates and slows down the unnatural ageing process in the human body.

Karnasphota (Cardiospermum Halicacabum)

Karnasphota is used widely in Ayurvedic and Allopathic medicines. It is proved to be antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and a natural refrigerant. It helps in nourishing dry skin and reducing itchiness, thus helping your scalp in being clean and bacteria-free to grow naturally.

Amla (Phyllanthus Emblica)

The product comes in a Plastic Bottle packaging with a cling film on it. The bottle has a cap that can be threaded shut. The good part is they have included an additional plastic stopper with a cap that can be pressed shut over the opening which prevents from leakage.

The oil is black in colour and has a strong herbal scent. The black colour will stain the clothes and surfaces so one needs to be careful of that. It is thin and runny in consistency. The secondary stopper helps to regulate the flow which is very useful to manage the thin consistency.

I have mid-length hair which reaches the middle of my back so to cover that length I need a significant quantity of oil. I was able to finish half the bottle in 4 uses. So for me one bottle will last for approximately 8-10 uses. If you have longer hair than mine it would last lesser and perhaps for a few more uses for shorter hair.

Royal Indulgence: Amaira Intensive Hair Oil | Ouantity – half finished in 4 uses

The brand’s marketing model is to sell 2- 3 bottles of this product at once which I believe will be necessary if one wants to commit to it long term, considering one bottle lasts for only 8-10 uses. Also similar to the face-pack it is designed to be used over a larger period of time to improve the quality of the hair so the deals help you to stock up on a larger quantity.

The directions say that this should be used 50-60 minutes before hair wash and needs to be massaged into the scalp for 10-15 minutes. This seems quite achievable to me because I am not the person who remembers or has the time / energy to do this the night before. Although to test out the product I have tried it both ways and there has not been a significant difference in the results. Also if one intends to keep it over night it is bound to stain the pillowcase so factor that in.

Royal Indulgence: Amaira Intensive Hair Oil | Colour & Texture

The hair oil kind of feels like heena in smell & texture but surprisingly it doesn’t feature on the ingredient list. It is very thin so it gets absorbed quite well and and very quickly too. I use the oil and then use my regular shampoo to wash it off and then follow it up with conditioner. I have noticed that I need to use a lot more shampoo to get it completely off. The hair feels softer and slightly more shiny after wash, but this effect is short lived. I feel it does frizz out my hair though, this could also be so because I am using a lot more shampoo to remove the oil.

It has no perceivable effect on my greys and preventing further would need intensive long term use to notice any results. It did not help on the hair-fall front. In fact I suffer from increased hair-fall during the monsoons so this did not help control it. I have decided to return to it after the season changes to assess if it does have any effect on hair fall control and will write an update if I do.

Pros:

  • Natural & Ayurvedic background
  • Made in India
  • Quick  Shipping

Cons:

  • Expensive
  • Slightly Drying
  • Not easily available offline.

Closing Thoughts:

Overall I find this to be an average product which is also very expensive. I do understand that they claim to be using soil friendly methods of farming to source ingredients and that is cost intensive but despite that the results are underwhelming. Folks with mid-length hair will go through the bottle in a month or so and that is just not enough time for any product to work. The claims that they are making can only be achieved if you use the product regularly for a really long time and cannot be tested with just one bottle. Moreover if you do want to commit to this over a long term you would need to shell out the money. Luckily they offer deals to help in that regard.

If you have tried this I would love to know your experience. Please let me know in the comments how this worked for you or head to my Instagram and lets start a conversation. Also if you are interested in checking out some of the other hair care products I have liked click here & here.
