Innisfree: Whitening Pore Range- Toner, Serum & Sleeping Pack | Review

I have been trying various Innisfree products since they first launched in India. Their offerings have one thing in common great packaging and a beautiful scent. In terms of efficacy they haven’t impressed me yet! But I am hopeful about their new launches. Here I am talking about three products; Toner, Serum & Sleeping Pack from the Whitening Pore Range. Bear with me because I am squeezing in three reviews in one post so its bound to be long-ish.

Innisfree Whitening Pore Range Toner, Serum Sleeping Pack Review India

Innisfree: Whitening Pore Range | Toner, Serum Sleeping Pack | Review

I received the sample set of these three products as a gift & have tried them together over the past month. Something that instantly put me off is the name “Whitening” because Indian culture is disturbingly obsessed with light skin and I do not support this one bit! But after doing some research what I have come to understand is that these products target to enhance the tone of the skin by brightening it from within and not “Whitening it” by means of bleaching ingredients. I think Innisfree should consider re-naming these to be politically correct!

All the three have a few things in common:

Packaging: Utilitarian and product specific packaging which works well with the consistency of the product.

Fragrance: They all have a added Tangerine fragrance. Added fragrance is never a good thing in skincare because it tends to irritate the sensitive skin. Saving grace being the scent is light and gets mellow over time.

Ingredients: All three have a few ingredients in common especially the Tangerine peel juice made by squeezing fresh tangerine peel harvested in Jeju, claimed to contains six types of citrus flavonoid that help create brighter, clearer skin. This in combination with functional active ingredients, it is said to work on dull, uneven skin and pores to keep the skin clean and flawless.

The consistency is quite unusual it contains both lotion and toner together, (which is perhaps what they meant in the claims.) Since its bi-phase one needs to shake it well before application. Unlike some of the other toners this feels quite moisturizing which I believe is thanks to the lotion mixed within. Once its dry the skin feels refreshed & hydrated but still slightly oily & tacky. Which is OK considering I would anyway add a moisturizer on top of it. To summarize the toner is hydrating a does a good job to prepare the skin to receive the next step which is a serum/ moisturizer.

Innisfree Whitening Pore Synergy Serum Review Consistency

Innisfree: Whitening Pore Synergy Serum | Consistency

I use around 1-2 pumps of serum apply it after using the toner, I pat it into the skin as instructed. The Serum has a thick consistency with Orange colored beads (ampoules) which the brands says that eventually mix with the serum and come out white, but unfortunately that is not true in my case. They come out as beads and if I don’t use some force to break them and dissolve them they end up remaining solid. Once broken and mixed the serum turns milky. I concentrate this on areas like my under eye where there is some pigmentation.

The serum is super fast absorbing and leaves the skin feeling hydrated. when used by itself it does not feel greasy but over toner it does feel slightly tacky.

I use this after the toner & serum. It has a thick consistency with some particles suspended in the white gel. So I rub it in between my fingers to even it out before applying it on the face.

Sleeping masks are supposed to be thicker and one is expected to apply a thick layer. But I find that a little too heavy for the current humid climate and moreover this is not fast absorbing so one would end up transferring most of it to their pillow. So I use a pea size amount over my face and neck. It has a good slip so it spreads evenly and forms  a hydrating coating which remains slightly damp and sticky for sometime. I ensure that I keep my head straight for around 10 minutes for it to get absorbed and not transfer on the bed linen.

Closing Thoughts:

I have been trying these together for close to a month. I wake up with my facial skin feeling soft and hydrated. It is fairly humid here so that also contributes to the results. I feel folks living in dry climates will be able to enjoy it better because the humidity enhances the tacky feeling and which sometimes does get a little overbearing.

Innisfree Whitening Pore Range Toner, Serum Sleeping Pack efficacy Review India

Innisfree: Whitening Pore Range | Toner, Serum Sleeping Pack | Efficacy

Speaking of claims that address dark spots, pigmentation, brightness creation and skin texture improvement. I was not able to see any perceptible difference in a months time but these are really major skin changes that would need months of regular application. One would really have to commit to the product for close to 3-6 months to be able to see noticeable difference. I will write and update after a few months if I notice anything that is worth mentioning.

Over all they are great set for someone who is a beginner in their skincare journey as they are quite hydrating and the experience of application coupled with the citrus fragrance (The feel good factor) is a great incentive to make one commit to it in their PM routine. It definitely does offer some nice immediate benefits but visible long term results will need time. If you are some one with mature skin or are used to more potent actives this might not be for you.

  1. I saw this in the shop, and was a bit put off by the whitening on the label, and went for the green tea products instead. Generally, I like Innisfree, not too expensive and good quality stuff.
