Good makeup needs good tools! To design a good tool one needs extensive insight into the target audience and the ultimate result expected. Here is where Samantha and Nicola Chapman come in, they are professional makeup artists and Real Techniques (RT) is their brainchild. In my opinion RT is one of the most reliable and economical brand that makes good quality makeup brushes and importantly, it is available in India.
Today I am reviewing the Real Techniques: Retractable Kabuki Brush. For the longest time I had been looking for a good multi purpose brush and after watching so many videos raving about this one I ordered it from Amazon. I have been using this for close to a year.
Cost: 999 INR | Buy Online: http://amzn.to/2bnmeY4
Packaging: It come in a sleek metallic casing with a clear plastic cap. It is lightweight yet sturdy. The handle has a good length so the brush is easy to grip and use . The retraction mechanism of this brush is unique and very useful. Within the handle lies a bristle guard that one needs to manually pull up. It will contain the bristles within and then the cap can be replaced on it, without causing any damage to the brush hair. This makes it very easy to carry while travelling. There have been times I have traveled with just this brush to use all my products and it did not let me down.
The Brush: It is essentially an angled brush used to apply liquid, cream or powder products. This one is made of extremely soft synthetic bristles. They are soft yet dense enough making blending products a breeze. The bristles are not duo-fiber as they seem at first glance. The black bristles fade into white near the tip of the brush, although this has no effect on its performance.
Pros:
- Efficient
- Economical
- Travel friendly
Cons:
- Bristles are way too fine for them to pick the dense cream products.
- Cant be used easily on smaller corners e.g. between the eye and the nose.
Closing Thoughts:
Post extensive use I believe this is a must-have ! It’s easy to use, easy to carry & most importantly easy to clean + maintain. One can also pull up the bristle guard to make the brush denser when required. The application of product be it liquid or powder is even and smooth. If you had to buy only one RT Tool – this should be it !
I hope this review was helpful and I look forward to knowing your experience with this or any other Real Techniques products you have used.
I love real techniques brushes!

You make me want to spend on so many things.. real techniques is going to need some serious money saving. Ever tried Kent brushes?
Kent ! No i havent heard of em ! Are they good? What is their story?
Kent is a brand of professional brushes. They are pretty good. In competition with RT, I had their angled brow brush, and it was really good. Planning to collect a few more of em. You should check em out.
