The Ordinary: Multi-Peptide Serum For Hair Density | Review

I have been a fan of The Ordinary ever since the brand launched way back in 2015-16. Since then I have used many of their products even before they came to India, and now that they are available locally I couldn’t be happier. Hair Fall has been a constant in my life since the past few years and I have tried numerous things to help my case and this one couldn’t have come to market at a better time. Here is The Ordinary’ Multi-Peptide Serum For Hair Density -Review.

Ingredients:

The Ordinary’s Multi-Peptide Serum For Hair Density uses a combination of peptides and plant extracts to promote hair growth and thickness. The peptides in the serum work by targeting different stages of hair growth, while the plant extracts help to nourish the scalp and protect hair follicles from damage.

The Ordinary’s Multi-Peptide Serum For Hair Density contains a blend of peptides and plant extracts, including:

  • REDENSYL™: A complex of Larix Europaea Wood Extract and Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract that helps to promote hair growth and thickness.
  • Procapil™: A peptide complex that helps to stimulate hair growth and prevent hair loss.
  • CAPIXYL™: A peptide complex that helps to strengthen hair follicles and prevent hair loss.
  • BAICAPIL™: A peptide complex that helps to protect hair follicles from damage and promote hair growth.
  • AnaGain™: A plant extract that helps to promote hair growth and thickness.
  • High-Solubility Caffeine: A form of caffeine that helps to promote hair growth and prevent hair loss.

The reason behind these specific ingredients:

Redensyl: This is a combination of naturally derived plant extracts. Dihydroquercetin Glucoside and Epigallocatechin Gallate Glucoside are plant polyphenols that promote the division of hair follicle stem cells, prevent cell death and provide antioxidant properties when combined. The two other key ingredients in Redensyl are zinc (which aids in maintaining hair structure) and glycine (a key keratin-associated protein).

Peptides: Peptides are compounds made from amino acids – the building blocks of proteins. Some peptides may stimulate cell division, others structurally support the hair fibre whilst some may have an effect on cell signalling. Each aids the highly complex process of hair growth in its own way.

Caffeine: Studies have shown that caffeine can potentially improve cell energy, promote hair growth, counteract the effects of testosterone on the balding process and potentially improve the hydration of the hair shaft. Caffeine is likely to be more effective as a leave-on product, rather than as a shampoo.

My Experience – The Ordinary: Multi-Peptide Serum For Hair Density

In case you prefer a talk through video here is one I made on Instagram, walking through my experience while using this serum.

I have been using The Ordinary’s Multi-Peptide Serum For Hair Density for many months now and have finished the bottle. It comes in a typically TO style no nonsense glass-packaging with a pipette. One definitely has to be careful with the glass bottle and the glass pipette so I encourage folks to set aside some time in their night routines to do this with patience and diligence. I also say this because the serum is extremely thin and runny and should be worked into the scalp with a little massage.

How I use the product:

The leave-in serum is recommended to be used once a day, applied to a clean, dry scalp and ideally at nighttime before bed, when it’s said that skin and hair tends to regenerate. As the product contains castor oil, I set aside a couple of moments after applying my evening skincare to really massage it into my roots to stimulate hair follicles. Overall, it was really quick and easy to use compared to hair growth products I’ve tried, such as hair masks (which need to be rinsed out) and hair oils (heavy and sometimes sticky in dry hair).
It leaves no residue, does not stain the pillow case. It is super quick to absorb into the skin; a characteristic of the product I truly appreciate because on most days I am dead tired and cannot wait an extra minute to hit the bed.
I am happy to report that the product did work for me, but I also need to highlight that while suffering from hair fall I was also using other products to promote hair growth along with this. I saw a lot of baby hair after a few months all over my head which were a pain to style but nevertheless a testament to the new hair growth. Also the texture of my hair gradually improved. I think these results were good enough for me to repurchase this product and continue to test its long term efficacy.

Pros:

  • Effective
  • Scientifically-backed
  • Lightweight
  • Easy to use

Cons:

  • May take several months to see results
  • Expensive
  • Glass packaging

Cost:

The Ordinary’s Multi-Peptide Serum For Hair Density costs 2000 INR for a 60ml bottle. It is available for purchase on The Ordinary’s website and at select online retailers.

Overall,  The Ordinary’s Multi-Peptide Serum For Hair Density has impressed me. It is an effective, and easy-to-use product that has helped me after a period of hair loss. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a way to improve the thickness and fullness of their hair.
