When Makeup Revolution officially launched in India around a year ago, I was eager to checkout their offerings since they are known for their affordable prices and shades that are dupes for many high-end colour cosmetic brands. I was in the market for a Nude Lipstick (let’s be real, when am I not! LOL) so I went for the shade Treat from their Amazing Lipstick Range.
It retails for 295 INR and now that its been a while prices have been further slashed to 250-265 INR. It is available online here.
Starting with the packaging, you get what you pay for – you’re spending less than 300 bucks so expect the packaging that could open in your bag, and isn’t the most sturdiest. The lid isn’t secure and it cracked on me very soon. The good part is the colour coded plastic on top of the lid which makes it easy to understand the colour without opening it. I got mine from Nykaa and it does not have “Makeup Revolution” written on it anywhere! Strange, I am not sure if I got a fake.
The shade Treat is a my lips but better shade, mostly pink with a hint of brown. It is an everyday day-time wear colour which will look good on light to medium skin tone. It will wash out the deeper skin tones because this colour will make them look washed out. It has a slight vanilla fragrance which isn’t bad.
It has a sheer creamy finish. It also has a shine due to oil content, due to which is moisturizing and comfortable to wear but doesn’t last long. Another attribute to that is the low pigmentation, at least 2-3 passes are required to actually achieve the true colour on pigmented lips. It definitely cannot survive a meal and will need re-application often. If you live in areas with a hot climate you need to be mindful where you store this lipstick as it is prone to melting.
Once applied it does not settle into fine lines but it keeps moving around due the creamy finish. This is a problem when a thick layer is applied as it is bound shift and stain, giving an unflattering look.
