I always look forward to spotting new Indie Brands and try their offerings so I was pretty kicked when I got an opportunity to try a bunch of products from the brand – Indrani Cosmetics. The brand has very generously gifted me these products but the opinions expressed here are my own.
It is a Pune, India based brand and has quite an interesting and inspiring origin story. I admire & respect anyone who is courageous enough to take the plunge into entrepreneurship because the process is daunting to say the least, so I was quite inspired by the story of the founder of Indrani Cosmetics. Read more about it here.
Something that immediately caught by eye was the tub of Lip Balm, because if you have been with me for a bit you know I am one of those unfortunate people who have chapped lips all year long so I am always up for trying products that can help with this unsightly situation.

Cost: 100 INR for 25 Grams
Ingredients: Silicone Oil, Castor Oil, Isopropyle Myristate, Vitamin E Acetate, Color, Perfume, Petroleum Jelly
It comes packaged in a tub containing 25 grams of product which is pretty generous as compared to the other options in the market. It has a subtle fruity scent that is quite mellow and doesn’t bother my sensitive nose. It looks pink in the tub but goes on clear. It spreads well and gives a glossy look to the lips. It is quite light and doesn’t feel waxy or overwhelming on lips; but it does need frequent re-application due to the lightweight consistency. I would have really liked if it had better longevity but overall it’s a decent lip balm and will work well for the younger beauty audience.
Lavender Massage Oil
Among all the products I tried from this brand this one stands out. I loved how light yet moisturizing it felt on the body.

Cost: 150 INR for 100 ml
Ingredients: Almond Oil, Lavender Oil, Propyl Paraben, Soybean oil, Light liquid paraffin
It comes packaged in a plastic bottle with a flip top cap. The oil is of a very runny consistency so the flip top makes a lot of sense as it allows for controlled dispensing. It has an understated lavender fragrance which is lovely and does not overwhelm the senses which is very important for a massage oil.
The oil is very light and spreads wonderfully. On a cold morning a invigorating massage with this oil followed by a shower elevated my spirit! The body felt relaxed and very hydrated. Often after massages it is very difficult to cleanse the residual oil so we end up using a lot of soap to get rid of the sticky feeling; which is quite counter intuitive because the soap dries up the skin further. But this one is very light so one doesn’t need to over-do the shower gel which helps retain the hydration for longer without feeling greasy.
I also tried this as a moisturizer and I cannot praise it enough. The light consistency makes it super fast to apply and it gets absorbed in a jiffy so I can jump into my jeans right after without worrying about any oil stains. I loved using this and I can’t recommend this product enough!
This product initially confused me a little because as soon as I read AHA my first instinct was to apply a tonne of it on my face but it somehow didn’t feel right so I went back and read the instructions carefully and got a complete surprise!

Cost: 500 INR for 50 grams
Ingredients: Light Liquid Paraffin, Beeswax, Cetyl Palmitate, Cetyl Alcohol, Glycerine monostearate, Cetomicrogol, Isopropyl Myristate, Borax, Propyleneglycol, Triethanolomine, Sodium Lauryl Sulphate, Glycolic Acid, Aloe Vera Juice, Methyl Paraben, Propyl Paraben, Hydantoin, D.M Water
It is actually meant to be a cleansing cream like the one we use to double cleanse and then it all made sense! The brand claims:
“Alpha Hydroxy Acids used here are derived from fruits, which help in removal off dead skin and creates a brightening effect to your skin while promoting collagen and blood flow.”
I use this in my PM routine as a double cleanser. I apply it on damp skin, massage it a little and remove it with a wet cotton round. After which the skin feels hydrated and fresh. The massage also helps with the blood circulation and brings out a healthy glow. Although it does feel a little greasy afterwards especially if you reside in a place with hot humid climate, but nothing that the second cleanse cant handle. I would recommend this to folks with dry to very dry skin types.
Seagreen Spa Facial Pack
Facepacks and masks are all the rage in the beauty community obsessed with self-care and I am a part of this group so you can imagine how much I look forward to trying a new Face Pack.

Cost: 300 INR for 50 Grams
Ingredients: Kaolin, Bentonite, Sodium Methyl Paraben, Sodium Propyl Paraben, Glycerine, Propylene Glycol, Hydantoin, Colour, Perfume, D.M. Water.
It comes packed in a tub with a screw on cap. It is a clay based pack and if you have ever used any clay based product you can imagine the scent it has. Kaolin and Bentonite are the very first ingredients in this pack and therefore that strong clay smell is a given!
Kaolin is known for its mild absorption properties which makes it suitable for normal to dry skin, whereas Bentonite has stronger absorption capacity and therefore is better suited for oily skin. Now since both of these are featured together here there is no mistaking the absorption capacity of this product. So I would recommend this to the folks with oily – to very oily skin types.
I have a combination skin with an oily T-zone and dry cheeks. I apply this after cleansing my skin only on my T-zone because my cheeks tend to be on the dry side. It does a good job of cleaning the pores and creating some brightness after the product is removed. This product will be especially useful for folks who like to multi-mask and have an issue with congested pores.
Side Note: I made my husband try this! He is someone who is always outdoors in the sun dirt biking and cannot be bothered with skincare or sunscreen so you can imagine the state of his skin. After rinsing off the pack I was shocked to see the change in colour and brightness. The tan was gone, the pores seemed less congested and the brightness was evident! I understand this is an extreme example and most folks who are invested in skincare may not notice such a vast difference but it does give significant insight about the potency of this product.
Aloe Vera Spa Massage Cream
The brand suggests that this cream should be used as an end product to a spa facial. A Spa Facial normally consists of the following steps – Cleansing, Steaming, Exfoliation, Extraction, Facial Massage, Face Pack and Final Applications where one receives a skin specific cream or Serum and sometimes a Sunscreen before stepping out. This cream is meant for the facial massage step.

I am a person who is generally quite pressed for time so I don’t get many opportunities to get facials at a Spa/ Salon, so I try to do some simple steps at home and I was glad to get my hand on this massage cream.
I use this on leisurely weekends where I apply it on cleansed and exfoliated skin and massage it in. It has a slight cooling effect which feels quite refreshing especially on the warmer days. I follow it up with a face pack if I have the time. It leaves the skin feeling hydrated and fresh. I would recommend it to people with dry-combination skin. This will also work well with Facial Massagers like Clarisonic and Foreo.
Indrani Cosmetics, their brand philosophy and products both have me intrigued! All the products I tried have performed pretty well. They are a relatively new Indie brand so I don’t expect them to get everything right from the get-go but I have already noticed that they have re-branded to keep up with the modern customer base. The packaging right now is pretty basic but I have been informed by the brand that they are working towards making it better and adding in layers of protection to make it spill and leak proof.
I am a huge supporter of Indie businesses and especially when they are local. Towards the end I just want to remind everyone that small businesses are made of courage, persistence and hard-work! Therefore it is very important that we do our very best in supporting independent and locally run business like Indrani Cosmetics especially in tough times like we are facing now due to the pandemic and the economy recessing. Supporting locally run businesses obviously helps them grow but more importantly it evens out the play-field because then there is room for everyone!
Let me know in the comments what is your opinion of Indrani Cosmetics and their offerings. Do let me know if you have any other Indie Brands to recommend, I would love to check them out. Also don’t forget to find me on Instagram for your daily dose of Beauty!
