My Experience

I have rarely come across a product that delivers results from the first use and this hair masque impressed me with very evident and noticeable improvement from the get go.

Although I must highlight that I did not find it very easy to apply. Unlike a hair oil this is thicker with a lot of solidified oil particles, which I suppose would be lesser if the temperature was higher. But these particles take time to completely melt and test my patience. Also if I don’t melt it on my hands by rubbing them together, they just sit there on the hair and fall everywhere while massaging making everything around oily. So one needs to put in some work for this to work.

To cover all my mid length hair and scalp I used like 6-10 wooden spoonfuls (comes with the product). I am not sure if I went overboard but less than that would have not covered the hair length. Post application the hair actually feels heavy.

Something that took away from the experience was the fact that to wash it off I had to use a considerable amount of shampoo; more shampoo = drier the hair. But this is not a shortcoming of the product, I still need to get the hang of quantity to be used by trial and error.

But despite the teething troubles, post wash the results are immediately noticeable. The hair is softer, has some lustre to it, more in control and better behaved, which is saying a LOT. I didn’t have to put a serum later on because it felt like I had already applied it. The scalp is less flakey and hydrated.

Closing Thoughts

Looking back I have realised this is a product that you cannot rush. Best way of applying this is to slowly massage it on the scalp and spread over the hair lengths gradually. My recommendation is to do it on a slow sunny day where you are going about your day in an unhurried manner. One should treat it like a ritual and not a chore which will make the experience more enjoyable and results better.

Over all it is an excellent hair masque and will work for most hair types. Although it takes a bit to understand the quantity one must use but the results are worth the work one has to put in.

If you have experience with the popular and very expensive hair oil/serum Kerástase Elixer Ultime Hair Oil and how it makes your hair soft post application, this does exactly that but with natural ingredients and at one third the cost.
