I am in awe of the ladies who turn up for the 9 am meeting perfectly made up and looking all golden! Like me, many of you must also wonder if we can achieve that level of self presentation ….but then there is breakfast to be cooked and lunches to be packed. Between the under cooked Poha and swearing at the crazy taxi driver cutting the lane, can we still manage to look fabulous, you ask? Yes, we can!
Enter: MAC Studio Fix Powder plus Foundation.
Product details:
- Cost: 2500 INR for 15 grams.(Its available in 46 shades, I wear NC 41)
- Buy Online: http://amzn.to/2aHrvN7
- Claims: A one-step powder and foundation that gives skin a smooth, flawless, all-matte finish with medium to full coverage. Long-wearing, velvety texture allows skin to breathe.
I must say, it lives up to almost all those claims! It definitely does not wear for the whole day, I need a touch up after 4 hours, but that itself is long wearing for me since I have an oily T-zone.
The powder is very finely milled so it goes on very smoothly and gives a matte finish. In spite of being fine it does not settle into pores and lets the skin breath. One can also use it with a large fluffy brush to get a sheer finish.
If you use the applicator and tap it down into the skin it will give a lot more coverage. The coverage is quite high and hence this cannot be used as a setting powder. Due to the high pigmentation one needs to be sure of their shade, be it light or dark, the difference will be highly evident.
The formula is such that it does not oxidize and become an entirely different colour when it sets like many other products do. I most often skip the concealer & the foundation and use just this product. I have observed it photographs well too.
Packaging :
It come in the standard MAC black casing made of plastic. The powder is set in a pan in the middle compartment. The lid has a mirror on it and the applicator sponge resides in the base with perforations that lets it dry when it gets moist. (full marks for good Industrial Design) It is sturdy enough to be carried around.
Pros:
- Saves time and effort
- Reduces appearance of pores
- Provides true colour and stays that colour
- Non-streaking/ caking /settling
- Photographs well
- Travel friendly.
Cons:
- Expensive
- The popular shades for Indian skin are frequently out of stock
Closing Thoughts :
Ms. Super Consumer taught me a trick to save the powder from breaking. When travelling keep the sponge on the powder and force the lid shut, this will cushion the product against impact and the powder will not crumble or break.
Let me know in the comments if you have tried this product or have any such usage tips or tricks.
