Sometime ago I won a giveaway held by NYX Cosmetics in collaboration with Youtuber- Tshering Yangzom. Yeyy! I won a bunch of NYX products and one among them was this Highlighter/ Illuminator in shade Magnetic. NYX describes this shade as Peachy Pink with Gold Sheen and glitter.
800 INR for 9.5 grams ($9.00 for 0.33 oz.)
Brighten up your complexion! The radiant shimmer of this illuminator diffuses light so your skin looks vibrant and refreshed while adding a subtle glow. Available in 5 radiant colors.
Talc, Mica, Magnesium Stearate, Dimethicone, Isopropyl Isostearate, Pentaerythrityl Tetraisostearate, Petrolatum, Silica Dimethyl Silylate, Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane, Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamte, Diethylhexyl Syringylidenemalonate, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Methylparaben, Propylparaben. (+/-): Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Iron Oxides (CI 77491, 77492, 77499), Red 6 (CI 15850), Red 7 Lake (CI 15850).
It comes in a plastic pan package with a nice sized good quality mirror. It feels sturdy to hold but still one needs to be careful not to drop it! The outer cardboard package contains the ingredients, cost, manufacturing, shelf-life etc details; some of which I would have preferred on the plastic container within.
Magnetic is a light orange -peachy coral with slightly warm undertone. It has a gold shimmer powder and gold glitter specks. When viewed from a distance or when photographed on the face; compared to the Orange pigment the Golden shine comes across a lot more. When observed from closer the glitter specks will be quite noticeable.
It has too much golden glitter for my personal liking, but of course this is subjective and would differ from person to person. I use it with a light hand which gives the high points a soft golden sheen with few glitter specks coming through. If I am not careful with the amount it can end up looking very orange and very glittery! It is definitely not a day time/ office wear highlighter.
But on the flip side the pigmentation is good and so if desired, it can be built up to achieve the intense glittery highlight. This would look great on special occasions with Indian Ethnic wear or for bridal makeup. It also makes for a nice eye shadow.
The consistency seems a tad dry & it has a powdery texture in the pan, very unlike the Colourpop Highlighters. But thankfully it doesn’t look dry or caked on the skin if applied properly.
The shimmer does enhance the texture on my face and I have a lot of texture, so folks with big visible pores need to keep that in mind and ofcourse priming will help. The wear time on this is close to 4-5 hours beyond which the colour starts fading and only the glitter remains and eventually even that goes off.
Over all I think it is a pretty versatile shade that can be used for a subtle diffused-frosted glow or can be layer up for a more intense shine. It can also double up as an eye-shadow and a body highlighter. It is a great shade for folks with deeper Indian Skin Tone because the warm undertone along with the orange pigment will give the skin a healthy colour and glow.
