Do you folks know that feeling when you like something so you keep going back for more… something similar is happening to me in case of hair products from Organix. I have been recommending them right & left to the folks I know and a male colleague of mine tried the Biotin variant and raved about it to me so I had to try it for myself.

OGX: Biotin and Collagen Shampoo | Ingredients
It comes packaged in the classic OGX style bottle, violet in colour with a gold flip top cap. The material for the packaging is recycled post consumer resin, which they claim to be eco-friendly.
It is of a translucent runny consistency similar to the Moroccon Argan Oil Shampoo from the same brand. It has slight purple hue that matches the bottle because of the synthetic colour Ext. Violet 2 which is honestly unnecessary but amps up the product experience! Due to the runny consistency one definitely needs to be mindful of not squeezing out too much.

The scent of this one is a winner! Mellow & fresh at the same time. Doesn’t last very long but the first two days after the wash when the wind meets hair one is left feeling fabulous! If you are one of those who want the hair to remain fragrant always you maybe be disappointed but I am OK with the smell mellowing and eventually disappearing so this is not an issue for me.
I have mid-length hair so I need quite a bit roughly as much as 1 Rupee coin’s diameter. It lathers well, not too much- not too less, just the right amount in my opinion. It does a wonderful job of cleaning the scalp without drying the hair. I have an oily scalp and frizzy mid length hair, the ends of which are very dry & split end prone. This shampoo definitely helps lift & volumize from the roots but at the same time keeps the frizz under check which is a rare combination in my opinion because the other volumizing products I have tried achieve the volume but the frizz situation is all over the place! After wash the hair is soft, lustrous, voluminous and quite manageable for at least the first two days after shampoo. Third day onward the sebum & build up kicks in and starts weighing it down. It does contain silicones so that has a part to play in the softness that is noticed immediately after shampooing and the weighing down of hair after a couple of days.

OGX: Biotin and Collagen Shampoo | Quantity, Shelf Life & Cruelty free
The good part about this product and generally other OGX offerings is that they claim to use SLS –free surfactants (learn why this is good – here) and don’t test on animals, so in essence good for your hair & your conscience!
Pros:
- Price to Quantity Ratio
- True to claim- Noticeable lift & volume
- Cruelty Free
- SLS free surfactants used
Cons:
- Contains Silicones
- Not easily available in stores.

OGX: Biotin and Collagen Shampoo | Final Thoughts
Closing Thoughts:
If you are looking for a shampoo that will help you create volume without the frizz this might be the one. Folks with thin hair that sticks to the scalp will especially feel the difference and notice lift & volume.

Nice! I like that the scent is lovely and sticks around for a little while. Some of these types of shampoos can smell awful!

To be honest I was hesitant myself, but I had a colleague with really curly hair who loved this brand. So I thought I would give it a shot and that’s how my love for ogx began. But I definitely can say for sure that it is better than the Pantenes/ The Head & Shoulders/ Tresseme etc!

Read mix reviews about this product, some people are complaining that they got dry and itchy scalp after the usage of this product so i am in doubtful situation .
My current condition : male with very thin hair, facing hair loss, receding hairline at age of the 24.
My scalp usually gets oily after two days of wash so i guess scalp type is oily.
Confused whether to go for it or not 🤔.
*Came to know about this product from a youtube video where that guy was using this shampoo with periodic usage of derma roller.

Hey there, thanks for swinging by here. I have used two Bottles of this and it really agrees with my hair which otherwise becomes unmanageable and frizzy. But since you have thin hair this is probably not going to be the case with you…or rather this is not the effect you are aiming at.
I still think it’s a great shampoo and you should be ok trying a small bottle. Also something a lot of men do is wash their hair far too often… I only wash my hair on Sundays… My scalp also does become oily but then I choose to ignore it for long-term hair and and scalp health.
The more you wash the scalp is stripped off of the moisture and in turn it produces more oil.
Also I have never seen a derma roller being used on the scalp. Pls share the link if you can.

I have been buying this shampoo for quite a while. The last bottle I bought was not the same. It is watery and it did not give my hair any volume. Don’t waste your money. It is no longer the shampoo it used to be. Profits over customer satisfaction.

Oh Kathleen, that’s so disheartening to hear! But glad you bought it to my notice…. Do you have any recommendations?

I need to know the scent of this shampoo n cond. I’ve been using this brand for years, have tried every one n my fav one is the purple (the dark purple biotin etc) n I am after the scent in this. I thought it was white musk but on buying a lil bottle of white musk fragrance it isn’t it. Does anyone know the scent please? Thanks, jodi 🙂

Hey Jodi, thanks for stopping by… I would not call it white musk…it’s just not as strong as that. A subtle floral…on the warmer side… definitely not fresh! I don’t know if that helps. 😅
But speaking of fragrance it doesn’t quite last and I especially dislike overwhelming scents so I quite like this one…have gone through many many bottles of these.

Hi Meera,
Curls really need a different level of haircare I am told, so I am not sure if it might work for you. I have 2A wavy hair and I love this, have already gone through 3 bottles.
