If you have been following me you know how much of a OGX fan I am. I have used OGX hair care for close to a few years in a row now and the sheen of this love-affair fails fade. So when Ms. Super Consumer asked me to try the Coconut Milk variant, I was more than happy to do it.
725 INR for 385 ml
This deliciously creamy and nourishing blend, infused with coconut milk, whipped egg proteins and coconut oils, helps to strengthen and hydrate your hair, leaving it softly scented, super soft and glowing.
Water (Aqua), Sodium C14-16 Olefin Sulfonate, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Sodium Chloride, Cocamidopropyl Hydroxysultaine, PPG-2 Hydroxyethyl Coco/Isostearamide, Acrylates Copolymer, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Hydrolyzed Milk Protein, Albumen, Amodimethicone, Panthenol, Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate, Glycol Distearate, Laureth-4, Polyquaternium-6, Polyquaternium-10, Trideceth-12, Cetrimonium Chloride, Guar Hydroxypropyltrimonium Chloride, PEG-120 Methyl Glucose Dioleate, Disodium EDTA, Diazolidinyl Urea, Iodopropynyl Butylcarbamate, Fragrance (Parfum).
It comes packaged in the classic OGX style plastic bottle which they claim to be eco-friendly since it is made of recycled post consumer resin.
The shampoo is of a semi-transparent white gel like consistency quite unlike the Moroccon Argan Oil Shampoo from the same brand- the first ever OGX shampoo I tried. Due to this one needs to be mindful of not squeezing out too much. I have mid-length hair so I need quite a bit of this. It lathers well, without too much effort.
The best bit about this shampoo is the coconut fragrance. Its like I am washing my hair with the “Bounty Chocolate Bar”. The fragrance is amazing, quite strong initially but surprisingly not very overwhelming either. It mellows over time. Unfortunately it doesn’t last very long, just the first day. If you are one of those who want the hair to remain fragrant, you will be disappointed! I am OK with the smell dialing down and eventually disappearing so this is not an issue for me.
The good part about this product and generally other OGX offerings is that they claim to use SLS –free surfactants (learn why this is good – here) and don’t test on animals, so in essence good for your hair & your conscience!
When it comes to performance, I am very disappointed that this did not work for me. It does a decent job of cleaning the scalp but it dries my hair completely. Despite putting a ton of conditioner when they dry they are extremely dry to touch and frizzy like nobody’s business. There have been times I have gone for events with half dry hair and by the time it is completely dry the frizz gets out of control, so much so that my girlfriends have asked me to go comb my hair. (embarrassing!)
I have an oily scalp and frizzy mid length hair, the ends of which are very dry & split end prone. This shampoo makes the situation worse with the insane frizz and a whole-lot of dryness making the hair weak, prone to tangling and absolutely unmanageable.

I have heard from a lot of folks that they loved this one by OGX. But sadly it did not work for me. I did some reading and learnt that it has recently been re-formulated and since it has lost its mojo. This is unfortunate but I have had a good run with the rest of the products and I look forward to trying more from this brand.
