I was in the market for a new facial cleanser as the last one I was using was on its last breath so I was beyond thrilled to get my hands on this Foaming Cleanser by Loveisderma. You guys know how invested I am in skincare and something that I especially appreciate is finding new brands that make hi-tech skincare products. Loveisderma- A Taiwan based brand engaged in aesthetic medicine,  skin care products and pharmaceutical care.

The Brand

LOVEISDERMA is one of the many brands under the parent company – Innovation Biotechnology which is a Taiwan‘s based pharmaceutical company that was established in 2005. It is engaged in making medical grade cosmetics. They claim to collaborate with laboratories in Taiwan and abroad to develop unique and effective formulas for delaying skin aging and skin problems. For instance the cleanser is formulated by Isderma.inc exclusively for Loveisderma.

Product Description:

• LOVEISDERMA Foaming Cleanser is perfect for removing makeup and preparing the skin for further skincare treatments.
• Mild, non-drying, fragrance-free cleanser contains gentle non-allergenic ingredients to prevent irritation.
• Suitable for all skin types including sensitive skin.
• Aloe extract extracts and moisturizes skin, leaving skin smooth, white and shiny, preventing skin from drying and hydrolyzing collagen to moisturize skin.
• Amino acid cleansing ingredients help to smooth pores, soften and cleanse skin while replenishing skin moisture to balance skin oils.

The ingredients look OK except for the use of Methylisothiazolinone which is essentially a preservative used in a variety of personal care products because it is a Biocide and prevents bacteria and fungi from growing within the products. It is only approved for use in rinse-off formulas and at low concentrations. But one needs to be aware of the fact that there is some research that shows that it causes allergic reaction and dermatitis to some people.

The product comes packaged in a transparent bottle with a pump (if you have been with me you guys know I love a good pump package – read some pump hits and misses here & here). The bottle is transparent, is quite sturdy to hold and feels like high quality plastic.

The product within is a transparent liquid but when it is pumped out the liquid turns into foam. I understand the science behind it but every time this happens the Harry Potter fan in me screams “MAGIC!” This instantly reminded me of the Vichy Liquid to foam cleanser I had tried many moons back. The difference is Vichy has added fragrance and this doesn’t and is also a lot gentler.

The foam is quite light and not so dense. I need two pumps to feel like it has done a good job of cleansing my face. Working it all over the moist face and neck is easy and quick due to the foamy consistency of the product.

It does have a slight chemical smell to it, it hits you initially but fades away almost instantly. Nothing too overwhelming and doesn’t bother me.

Post rinsing the skin feels clean and refreshed. It cleanses the skin without making it feel dry or stretched. This one is ideal for the winters when we tend to have drier skin than usual. It removes some makeup from the skin, but since it is so gentle don’t expect a thorough job of makeup removal. I recommend using this after you have removed your makeup by using a makeup remover or a micellar water and following it up with toner.

Pros :

• Light, foam texture – easy to use
• Gently cleans the skin without drying
• Paraben Free

Cons :

• Might not be very effective on extremely oily skin.
• Use of Methylisothiazolinone as a preservative.
• Not easily available in India.

Closing Thoughts:

I think this product will  work for all skin types, although extremely oily skin will need a little more product. I have an Oily T- Zone and comfortable cheeks so, this works wonderfully for me. The gentle cleansing experience that this product provides is definitely worth trying.
